Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. Our music curriculum aims to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.
As pupils progress, they develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon.
We work in close partnership with the Hull Music Service and all pupils in Year 4 have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and those with a flair and passion for music continue with Brass or Woodwind instruction as they progress through the school.
Kingswood Parks also works closely with Opera North and pupils in KS2 have weekly singing sessions which aim to improve, not only singing skills, but also confidence, performance skills and allow pupils to express themselves musically.
