Maths – curriculum information
Our Mathematics curriculum at Kingswood Parks is a mastery model where we firmly believe that mathematical knowledge and a depth of understanding is developed through exploration, collaboration and making connections across mathematical ideas. Fluency, Reasoning and Problem Solving are at the forefront of the curriculum and are essential skills and are essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering and necessary for developing financial literacy.
Our children learn to be fluent in mathematics by varied and frequent practise with increasingly complex problems over time so that they develop an understanding of the links and relationships between number facts. They learn to reason mathematically and follow lines of enquiry, explaining their reasoning clearly. They are prepared to solve a range of mathematical problems demonstrating resilience and perseverance in seeking solutions.
The mastery of maths is central to our Mathematics curriculum and we aim to ensure that the children have the opportunity to acquire a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of maths which they can apply to solve problems in all situations.
